Wacom Technology, the world’s leading maker of graphic tablets and interactive pen displays, announced today new software bundle refreshes in time for the holiday season and meant for both casual and avid digital photographers. The new and upgraded software increases the value of Wacom products through new application features and improved operating system compatibility. Contents of the software bundle refreshes vary according to the consumer or professional graphics tablet selected and include:
• Adobe® Photoshop® Elements 2.0. This replaces the older Adobe Photoshop Elements 1.0. It contains 15 pressure-sensitive tools and the new Photoshop 7 brush engine that allows virtually unlimited brush tools variations. Used with Wacom Brushes 1.0, it provides support for Intuos2 pen tilt and airbrush fingerwheel controls in addition to pen pressure sensitivity. It also supports Mac OS 10.1.3 and higher as well as Windows 98, ME, 2000, and XP. Estimated street price is $99.
• Procreate Painter Classic. This new version of the industry-leading natural media drawing application replaces the older Corel Painter Classic. It supports tilt and airbrush fingerwheel control. It also supports multiple layers so that, for example, natural media effects can be combined with digital photography. A new multi-bristle brush engine picks up and moves ink on individual brush bristles, and a new impasto brush provides a 3D thick paint look. It supports Mac OS 10.1.3 and Windows 98, ME, 2000, and XP.
• PenPalette by nik multimedia. penPalette launches from within Photoshop 5.5 or higher and Photoshop Elements 1.0 or 2.0. It allows Wacom tablet users to selectively apply digital photo enhancements with an electronic pen or airbrush, precisely controlling both the location and amount of filter effect applied. The pen-sensitive filters include: warm, cool, contrast, colorize, add noise, despeckle, and contrast-only. penPalette LE with four filters is newly available for Graphire2 tablet users. penPalette works with Windows or Mac OS X.
• Wacom Brushes 1.0 library. New for Intuos2 users is this set of more than 20 brush presets for using pen tilt and airbrush fingerwheel-controlled brushes in Photoshop 7 and Photoshop Elements 2.0. The brush presets use the pen tilt and direction to adjust a tool’s orientation on the canvas or to change the flow and opacity of a stroke independent of the pressure. Others use the airbrush fingerwheel to change the brush size or opacity on the fly.

Bundles with Wacom’s Intuos3 9"x12", 12"x12" and 12"x18" tablets and the Cintiq 15x and 18sx interactive pen displays contain three software items: procreate Painter Classic, penPalette by nik multimedia, and Wacom Brushes 1.0. Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0 as a consumer oriented application, is not included.
With Wacom’s $99 SRP Graphire3, the bundle refresh consists of Adobe Photoshop Elements 1.0 (replacing the older Adobe Photoshop LE), procreate Painter Classic, and penPalette LE by nik multimedia with four digital image filters (warm, cool, contrast, and colorize).
For Graphire3 Mac users who wish to upgrade from Photoshop Elements 1.0 to Photoshop Elements 2.0 (Elements 1.0 only works in System 9 but penPalette is incompatible with the OS 9.x operating system) there is a special offer on Photoshop Elements 2.0.
