Dan Ryder will be presenting a workshop this summer to teach drill designing to band directors who want to design their own shows and those who want to be drill designers. There is a high demand for quality drill designers throughout the country. Come to the workshop, it will be an investment in your future.

This workshop will prepare you to:

• Learn all the latest concepts of drill designing with extensive "Hands on Experiences"
• There will be a group "brain storming" session among the participants to help plan your marching show
• Design shows to provide you with the expertise to increase your income by designing shows for other bands
• Improve your show designing for your own band
• Teach show designing in your college marching band techniques class
• Provide you with a solid foundation on all the techniques of marching band show designing
• Design drills for bands of all sizes and difficulty levels
• Prepare you for a career as a professional show designer

Dan Ryder has been a professional designer for over thirty years. He has custom designed over 1000 shows for high schools and universities. Many of his customers have been using his services for over twenty years. He has presented clinics and workshops throughout the country, and has written many articles and books on show designing. He was a band director for thirteen years in Pennsylvania and Texas before becoming a professional show designer. He belongs to many professional music organizations, NBA, TMEA, TBA, and is an elected Associate Member of the prestigious American Bandmasters Association.

This will be an intensive clinic to prepare you to design for bands of all sizes and all difficulty levels. There will be a limited number of openings. The workshop will be held at the beautiful Southfork Ranch. An extensive amount of time will be learning all the techniques of drill writing, and actually designing all types of contemporary movements using the Pyware 3D Version 6 or 7 .

What will be required:

• Each person must provide their own Windows or Macintosh computer, laptop computer recommended, please bring an electrical extension cord.
• Drill designing work will be done using the Pyware 3D program. All persons must be knowledgeable with their Pyware Version 6 or 7 program before coming to the workshop. I am also having planning a separate one day workshop for those persons who only need help learning the Pyware 3D program, Monday June 17th, the day before this Drill Designing Workshop. • The "Techniques of Marching Band Show Designing" and the "Workbook for Techniques of Marching Band Show Designing" on CD will be the required texts. The cost of the Techniques of Marching Band Show Designing is $39 and the Workbook and Text Animation CD is $20.
• Bring scores and recordings of music you plan to use in your show for 2013
• If housing is required, arrangements have been made for discount rooms at the Southfork Hotel at $74 +tax, single or double.
• Register early there will be a limited enrollment.
• There is a shuttle service available from the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport or Dallas Love Field to the Southfork Hotel for Approx. $30.

This is a beautiful facility. The Southfork Ranch is approximately 8 miles from the Southfork Hotel. There will be a free shuttle van to take you to the ranch and return you to the hotel every evening. You will have a wonderful time at Southfork visiting the beautiful horses and Longhorn cattle in your spare time. It’s is one of the most beautiful settings in north Texas. You will immediately understand why there are over 1400 events at Southfork a year.

Food:

There will be a large lunch buffet provided every day, included in the cost of the workshop, at the ranch including a Southfork BBQ, Fajita Fiesta, Italian Delight and the “Ewing Extravaganza”, Friday in the Southfork Ranch dining room. A tour of the Southfork Ranch House will be included after lunch. The food is all prepared everyday at Southfork and is very outstanding. This is a very unique workshop, at a very unique location.
